Rajan Berry
- In what activity would you like to represent your country?
- Cricket - when I played as a child I could never see the ball. I am sure I would have made it if my mother took me to the opticians.
- What has been your greatest discovery online?
- Ocado. I never have to go to a supermarket again.
- What is your favourite and most useful gadget?
- My Blackberry. Great for work, terrible for relationships.
- What attracted you to the law
- Whilst at school I undertook a two week placement with a criminal solicitor. Court work is never boring.
- The law you would most like to change/abolish/introduce
- The Solicitors Regulation Authority should introduce regulation preventing solicitors from billing clients for 'In house charges' relating to such things as the cost of postage, binding documents and photocopying. These are costs that all firms should incorporate into their rates. Do barbers charge extra when using scissors or restaurants if we wish to use cutlery?
- The law you would most like to introduce
- A law should be introduced whereby no taxes, of any kind, should be levied on new businesses with a turnover of less than £1 million for the first 3 years. Obviously the new law should prevent directors / shareholders from creating phoenix companies every three years.
- Best bit of advice you have received
- Don't take advice from strangers on the internet. Telephone or come in and see them.
- Your signature recipe
- Regrettably, I am a "remove from cardboard sleeve, pierce film" kind of person.
